Hala Moddelmog, president and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the global leader in the fight to end breast cancer forever, was recently recognized with BoardWalk Consulting's first Encore Career Award.

Mayor Shirley Franklin receives BoardWalk's first Service Above Self Award for ensuring King Papers stay in Atlanta
At BoardWalk Consulting's Fifth Anniversary Celebration (details below), City of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin received BoardWalk's first annual Service Above Self Award, commemorating her act of faith and servant leadership in ensuring that the papers of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., remained in Atlanta.
"In just over a week in mid-2006," noted BoardWalk's Sam Pettway, "Shirley Franklin and a core group of advisors exhibited the vision and courage to form a strategy for keeping the King papers here, secured financing for the $32-million purchase price and tapped enormous cooperation from among the city's leaders to make the purchase a reality."

BoardWalk marks 5th anniversary with awards & thanks
On
January 23, 2008, BoardWalk Consulting marked
its 5th anniversary by inaugurating two service awards (see stories above).
The journey along the BoardWalk has exceeded our wildest dreams," said Founding Director Sam Pettway, noting that the firm has served some over 70 nonprofits and foundation clients since opening in October 2002. Over 250 corporate, nonprofit and political leaders gathered for the celebration. "We gather tonight to say thanks to each of
our clients, friends and supporters whose faith has made our success possible,
and to honor two very special national leaders for the examples they set for
all of us." Each
attendee received a personalized walnut coaster, along with thanks "for being a

Global Impact selects Charlotte Haberraecker as new COO
Now in its 53rd year, Global Impact raises and manages over $140 million annually in support of more than 50 member charities. To support its own substantial operations, Global Impact recently name Charlotte Haberraecker Chief Operating Officer.
Charlotte has over 25 years' leadership experience in operations, information management,strategy, and business process redesign. As a VP at Fannie Mae, she directed the evaluation of key business
processes, managed the assessment and implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley
financial and internal control requirements and created the first
operational risk framework in Fannie Mae's largest business.

Goodwill marketing strategist Titus Herman named CEO of Southeastern Guide Dogs
Southeastern Guide Dogs, one of the country's foremost schools for breeding, training and matching guide dogs with blind clients, has named Titus Herman its first CEO.
For the past 12 years, Herman has served as chief marketing executive for two of the country's most successful Goodwill organizations--one in Portland, OR, and--simultaneously--the other in Sarasota, FL, both of which experienced phenomenal growth during his tenure.

New to the BoardWalk: Molly Lang and Ami Thaker
During what has proved to be an extraordinarily productive month, we were doubly fortunate on the BoardWalk to have attrcated two new talents to the team, Ami Thaker and Molly Lang.
Ami Thaker ("AH-mee TAH-ker") joined us from Porter Novelli's Health Care Division, where she managed day-to-day account activities for such clients as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Healthcare Georgia Foundation and Lysol. A first-generation American whose parents emigrated from India, Ami is a summa cum laude graduate of Georgia State.

Molly Lang is a magna cum laude graduate of Georgia Tech. Most recently, she was a Marketing Associate with Jenny
Pruitt & Associates, where she
helped create marketing materials and maintained client communications
in support of real estate transactions. Molly was born and raised in St. Simon's Island, GA.
